Font Pairing Project

Font Pairing Project:

--------------------------------------

What does it mean to create a font pairing?

When a creator wants to create a font pairing, they are basically trying to get two or more fonts together, and seeing if they work out.

What are the four assignments you chose to do? Write the name of the assignment and describe your design for each.

Create a Font Pairing for the Quote “You can do Anything but not Everything” :

For this assignment, I chose the all caps and script pairing. There are two fonts present, and I focused on the words anything and everything

Create a Font Pairing for Any Destination:

For this assignment, I chose the chunky and skinny pairings. There are 2 fonts present. I chose the black and white background to have the words stand out a little more, and then added a rectangle around "New York" to make it stand out even more.

Create a Font Pairing for this Photo (stars):

For this assignment, I chose the all caps and script pairing. There are three fonts present, and I used a quote from Peter Pan that is related to stars.

Create a Font Pairing for this Saying - "Hot and Fresh out of the Kitchen":

For this assignment, I chose the fancy and simple pairing. There are 2 fonts present, and I chose a warm color scheme around the colors of red and brown. Hot, fresh, and kitchen are all supposed to stand out. The word "and" with the coffee cup indicates that this is some sort of cafe.

Which assignment would you say is your BEST font pairing and why?

I would say the stars one is my best, because it emphasizes the words that needs focus, and they all have unity with each other.

Which assignment would you say is your Least Successful font pairing and why?

My least successful font pairing would probably be the destination one because the two fonts aren't the best match for each other.

How would you describe the font pairing process? What makes a font pairing so difficult?

The font pairing process requires a lot of experimenting with various fonts, but once a person learns the basics, it becomes easier. The difficult part of font pairing is finding the right pair that creates unity and the right mood for the project.
